Feature Writing Workshop & Advocacy Magazine

I attended the Feature Writing workshop organised by Rachael Murray with fifteen other young people. Everyone arrived on time which was a good sign of enthusiasm. That day, we learnt so many things on how to be a good writer. We learnt how to write articles, poems, books and interpret the meaning of a photo or picture that you see. One of the presenters read out a poem by William Shakespeare while also making his dance movement and then he asked us how we understood it. This helped us to relate to things that we saw and then be able to put it into writing. Also this experience taught us to think critically and creatively.

In my opinion, the workshop was a really good opportunity for us. It is quite interactive and includes many icebreakers. As a result, I joined the WYPIN publication working group to produce an advocacy magazine, ‘Xpressions’. In so many ways, I was able to utilise what I had learnt from the workshop in my work as an editor of ‘Xpressions’.
