Melbourne Citymission has been working across Melbourne and Victoria
for over 155 years and today is an organisation of over 70 different
programs and services, supporting hundreds of communities and thousands
of people each week.

Maribyrnong City Council

The City of Maribyrnong is 31.2 sq km in area and is the smallest and most densely populated municipality in the region. The City of Maribyrnong borders Melbourne, which is Australia's second largest city and Victoria's capital city. This central location provides easy access to all the benefits of Melbourne, such as the ports, the best road network in Australia and an extensive public transport system. Maribyrnong is made up of the suburbs of Braybrook, Footscray, Kingsville, Maidstone, Maribyrnong, Seddon, Tottenham, West Footscray, and Yarraville

 

Indigenous Australia

This site from the Australian Museum Online looks at how the colonisation of Australia brought rapid changes to the world of the Indigenous people of Australia - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and dramatically affected Aboriginal land and the ways people lived. Background information on Indigenous Australia includes Cultural Heritage, Spirituality, Family, Land and Social Justice.

 

Lawstuff - Know Your Rights

A website produced by the National Children's and Youth Law Centre which provides information on how the laws in Australia apply to those under 18 years of age. The user's state can be selected in order to locate specific information on a range of issues affecting youth. Specific questions can be directed to an email address and there is also a When Can I section, detailing the legal age for youth to participate in certain activities.

 

Somazone

This project, managed by the Australian Drug foundation, aims to provide an online place for young people to explore issues like mental health, sexuality and drugs. The site is aimed at 14-18 year olds and is designed to offer information about health questions from its sections. Q&A allows young people to ask questions and receive answers from experienced health professionals, Personal Stories provides a space for young people to share their experiences, Educational Interactives and the Support network.

 

The Source

The Source is the commonwealth Government's youth website. It provides young people with both government and non-government information in essential areas such as careers, studying, help with money, health, legal rights and much more.

 

Reach Out!

Reach Out! is a service that uses the internet to help young people get through tough times. Developed in response to Australia's unacceptably high rates of youth suicide and attempted suicide, Reach Out! provides much-needed information, assistance and referrals.

 

Youthlaw

Youthlaw is the first specialist young people's community legal centre in Victoria. Have you ever made bad decisions, broken rules, suffered from unfair treatment or not been heard? the Youthlaw site can help you know your rights.

 

Youth Challenge

Youth challenge is a human rights education program developed by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity commission. It is designed to educate school students about human rights and responsibilities through role-plays, guided activities, surveys, personal stories and prompted questions for discussion. The Challenges allow students to focus on real-life issues such as sex, race and disability discrimination, sexual harassment and the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees.

 

UNESCO - Infoyouth Network

The Network was initiated in 1991 by UNESCO in order to meet two main challenges; the necessity to counteract the splintering of various and scattered information sources and networks on youth; and the urgent need to implement appropriate youth policies from local to global levels. The site includes a worldwide database of youth policy materials, selected reports and a newsletter.
